I met Ron Shetler when I was attending the Neighborhood Playhouse in 1983/84. He taught us voice. And I always thought it was such an easy way to sing, so effortless. I stayed in the United States until 1988 and then I went on a European Tour with the musical HAIR.
Afterwards, I moved to Vienna, Austria to study voice with a Bel Canto teacher. I finally gave up singing and became a rock musician. I concentrated fully on keyboards and gave up my idea of ever being a singer in musicals.
Long story short, I remained in Europe for another ten years and during my interlude there, I lost my voice for 4 years. Thanks to Skype, I was able to hook up with Ron and he saved my voice. He has been really, my one and only teacher I have ever trusted..
Everyone else had destroyed my voice. I have since moved back to New York City and have resumed my career not only as a singer, songwriter and actress, but also as producer. I had the great pleasure of performing my MERCIFUL DELUSIONS: An Evening of One Act Plays by Tennessee Williams, twice at Theatre 54, once in 2016 and the other time in 2019.
Ron Shetler is my mentor, friend and lifesaver. I canโt speak highly enough of him. It breaks my heart to have found out that
he had to close Shetler Studios. I have spent so many enjoyable hours rehearsing and performing in his establishment. My heart goes out to you my friend RonShetler!
"The Final Bow" will utilize archival footage, photos, and interviews, with a wide ranging cast of characters, in order to tell the stories of those who over the last three decades have honed their skills and personally received coaching from Ron himself.
The film will feature an exclusive interview with Ron Shetler and stands as the only documentary officially authorized by Shetler Studios.
My brother was there at the Neighborhood Playhouse when you were there, Nicole. His name is Tim Fitzgerald, not sure if you remember him.
